After covering Porirua I got asked if we were going to do anything on the Hutt… naturally my immediate response was, uh why? But then I found Mayor Ray Wallace’s Facebook page – and boy has he been busy.
Wallace is finds himself in a similar spot to Nick Leggett in that he doesn’t seem to have much of an opponent, but that hasn’t stopped him running hard around the City attending just about every single event and glad-handing the residents. In fact Wallace is probably updating his Facebook more than most other candidates across the region… although his YouTube performance might need some fine tuning.
He has even been handing out free trees to the voters…
And All Blacks tickets to the kids…
Hopefully the battle for council seats will be a little hotter in the Hutt. Although I did wonder how kosher it was to be jumping on the giveaway bandwagon?
