  1. Johnny,

Obviously you like to publish things with your own interpretation on them. I put in my apologies for absense to Council. The reason my attendance rate was down from the usual 96% is that my father was terminally ill earlier this year and passed away on 12th June 2010. I had to miss about 9 meetings over the space of a few weeks while he was ill. This diproportionally affected the figures. Do you begrudge me having to travel to Tauranga to try and look after him and my ageing mother. Even the Mayor and Councillors sent their sympathies and flowers.
I really have to wonder what sort of a low life that you are.

  2. Rob, this information is straight from the Council annual report. Thanks for the context and we are sorry for your loss. Perhaps the council could have footnoted the fact in the annual report.

  3. Johny how sore is your mouth, now that you have had to pull your foot out of it? Good to see you front up with the apology though.

  4. I am surprised the council haven’t put a footnote in. Anyone reading the list would come to the same conclusion as me without it.

    • Hey, don’t get too carried away. I am sorry for Cr Goulden’s loss. But that does not give you guys free license to come on and start abusing everyone. If you have have an issue with the way the statistics are presented talk to the council. Anyone member of the public would interpret them the same as me. And it’s a bit rich to suggest I think before speaking. Has Rob apologised to the young female council tip worker yet? http://presscouncil.org.nz/display_ruling.php?case_number=1037

  5. If you want to discuss matters which are important lets talk about the Mayor’s current problems with conflicts of interest.

Leaky homes and Appointments to New Venues Council Controlled Trading Organisation.

    • She declared the leaky homes and it affects 10s of 1000s of people so it’s not surprising a few politicians are affected. Send us details on the other one.

      • Okay

Here’s the other one from last nights Council meeting.

        Report 3.

Appointments to New Venues Council Controlled Trading Organisation

        Resolution to Exclude the Public

        THAT Council:

        1. Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, resolve that the public be excluded from the following part of the proceedings of this meeting namely:

Report 3 – Appointments to New Venues Council Controlled Trading Organisation

Grounds: Section 48(1) (a) That public conduct of the whole or the relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding would exist under Section 7.

Reason: Section 7(2)(a) To protect the privacy of natural persons

        Ms Prendergast

        Good morning.

Given our discussion in recent days surrounding conflict of interest, can you advise why you found it necessary to declare a conflict of interest last evening in relation to Appointments to New Venues Council Controlled Trading Organisation?

Given that the public were excluded from this part of the meeting, I would be most interested to learn whose privacy was protected through this action and the rationale behind your decision to declare a conflict of interest.

A response today would be appreciated.

        Regards
        ………. (Removed)

Interesting when you consider that one of the appointments made by her to this board was and may still be a trustee of the blind trust that looks after her campaign funding. (i.e. a trustee)

Perhaps this was the reason for the declared conflict of interest.

I can think of no the reason for the declared conflict of interest.

        What do you reckon?

    • The everyone’s first comment automatically goes into moderation. After that it only throws you back in moderation if it thinks you’re spamming it – lots of comments in a quick period of time will do that.

  6. Johnny,

You are more abusive than anyone on the blogg this morning. Forget about attacking those who want to respond to you inital comments. No thats not fair is it. You are ignorant enough to believe the gutless baseless stories published by the Dompost Thats what really worries me.

You keep reading your own press and then fire off another personal shot. The case you speak of doesn’t require an apology. I did nothing wrong. Do I need to show you the tape to convince you to pull your foot out of your mouth again.

  7. The Press Complaints Authority did not uphold your complaints about the accuracy of the Dominion Post’s reporting. “The various complaints against The Dominion Post are not upheld.”

  8. OK. One more. But the Mayor lost this time and the complaint said more about her vanity.

This is my favourite ruling.is on the Close Up item “All-Out War” between the Wellington Mayor and a city councillor, from November 2009.

“[49] Ms Prendergast argued that Mr Goulden was presented as a “reasonable, even-tempered person,” which was misleading. The Authority disagrees. It notes that the following comments were made in the item:

Reporter: It’s Groundhog Day at the Wellington City Council with the Mayor once again chastising the naughtiest boy in class.

    Prendergast: He’s disruptive, he’s aggressive, he’s abusive.
Reporter: The Mayor and other councillors have become increasingly exasperated with Rob Goulden’s constant interruptions to points of order and the way he walks in and out of meetings…

Reporter: Four other councillors have told Close Up Rob Goulden is a good person and has valid concerns about the way things are run at the Council. However, at least three other councillors can’t stand him. One was so keen to comment on camera he contacted a Close Up producer four times over the space of three days.

Councillor: He yells and screams, he disregards common courtesies and then when he doesn’t get his own way he either stomps out or cry-babies to the media like he’s doing to you now.

Friend: … I mean that’s just Rob. That’s his make-up. He doesn’t let go. He’s like a dog with a bone. When he thinks he’s right, that’s it, there’s no letting go but that’s Rob.”

  9. Hi Johnny,

Now that I know who you are you should be careful.

I note in another blog you called another colleague of mine a ‘Fraud’. He is one of the people you refer to in this article that apparently hates me. Perhaps I should pass on to him what you have posted on the net about him.
You also accused another colleague of mine the other day of voting for something before her time on Council. You are with all these posts today selective, biaised, and ill informed.

You forgot to mention the BSA complaint by your mate got thrown out for what it was. Nothing more than pathetic.

I also note another subscriber has descibed you as a bigot. Maybe that’s correct.

I note you don’t have the decency to apologise for your earlier misguided comments so I guess my earlier opinion of you is well founded.

  10. I think you have me confused with someone else. Oh well. This is the only blog I post on. I have no idea what you are talking about.

    • Hi Johnny,
Now that I know who you are you should be careful.

Is that a threat? You should elaborate on exactly what you intend to do Rob.

  11. Perhaps you googled Johnny Depp. Anyway you do make one accurate point. I did mention Leonie Gill in a post wrongly supporting the airport sale. She pulled me up on it. I apologised and gave her an excellent piece on the whole process. Matter sorted. That’s how things are done in a civilised society.

  12. Anyway Johnny who the hell are you anyway? – a card carrying member of the national party or just a good mate of kiwiblog?

  13. Well done and thanks Chritopher Nimmo. Even you can see tha Johnny is cowardly attacking Rob. I wonder if Rob is aware of these disgraceful blogs about him. In particularly the references to his recently departed father. I suspect not.

In fact Johnny has attacked so many candiudates he and Rock Hudson now both have somethig in common. They have both been punched around the ring a bit to much

Shame on you Johnny, Richard and Thomas. I have personally met Rob and he is more of a man than you three will ever be.

  14. James, Cllr Goulden started it and started abusing commenters. He raised his father, no one else. I see you have a similar trait to the Cllr for playing the man and not the ball. Until yesterday no one had even mentioned him on this blog, because he is largely irrelevant to the issues being discussed. One person made one comment about him and he went berserk.

  15. According to this blog record you started it and published figures without any footnote or explanation of them. I think you should contact Rob and apologise to him. He is obviuosly offended by the conclusion you drew as to how hard he works by just publishing these figures as the only measure of his workload. I am sure that he works a lot harder than that. In fact, I know he does.

His explanation about his father is very reasonable and more than explains his absense this year from Council. Just remember that he doesn’t get sick leave, annual leave, bereavement leave and other benefits that you get. Enough said.

    • This all turned nasty when Rob made this comment – https://wccwatch.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/capital-times-best-of-wellington-2010/#comment-541

Rob could have defended his record reasonably in a similar tone to that of everyone else on this blog but was abusive from the get go. He also seems to have threatened Johnny in comment #22 above.

Rob is an elected member in a democracy and getting offended that someone criticised him and another person republished a council document is no excuse for the abusive comments he has made. This sort of thing is unreasonable, childish and shows very poor judgement in managing one’s public image. It’s no wonder the Mayor wouldn’t give him an portfolio responsibilities.

  16. You really are as stupid as your blog.

You fell right into the trap of exposing who you are. I am sure that you are the same person who was told to remove other material from your other website today.

You think you can publish what you like and say what you like but we all know differently.

In which case now I will do something about it.

    • Hi Rob. David Farrar is actually a different person and runs a blog called Kiwiblog. Have you read it? I am johnny. Have you apologised to the young female tip worker yet?

    • You’re so clever Rob/James/Kerry, I am David Farrar of Kiwiblog and also Danyl McLauchlin of Dimpost.

  17. Hi Cllr Rob. The BSA ruled: “Mr Goulden would have it that The Dominion Post was inaccurate in reporting allegations that he was “aggressive and abusive” to a council worker (June 3) but the Press Council is satisfied that the article does not breach the principle of accuracy.” Have you apologised to the young female tip worker yet? You wouldn’t know a fact in this matter if you fell over it.
