Phanie Cock for War

NewsWire have published an entertaining little article about the perennial topic of billboard vandalism. It’s also accompanied by a pretty decent gallery of photos of various candidates’ hoardings.

Interestingly enough, she feels her billboards, despite vandalism, are better value for money than newspaper ads…

Overall, she believes that boards are a better bet for advertising than placing an advert in a newspaper.

“It’s a low cost way to get your name out there, as opposed to around $250 for a newspaper advert, which people may only look at fleetingly. A board could be there for six weeks.”

Probably the most sensible thing she’s said in years.

  1. In the 2008 general election it was Stephen Franks campaign team going around destroying the election hoardings of other candidates. http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO0811/S00079.htm. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the right wing candidates supporters doing it again this time as it seems to be the left leaning candidates getting vandalised. I suppose this is part of the strategy to reduce the number of “low grade” votes and voters, much disliked by Franks and his kind.

  2. Morrison, McKinnon, Bishop, Wade-Brown and Cooks have been vandalised or taken in Aro Street and Karori – wouldn’t put them all together as Right wing.

  3. It appears they are all being hit, left or right, labour, green or ‘independent’. It’s a sad day for democracy. I hope the Police take action like they have in Auckland for alleged electoral fraud.
